The Importance of Videography on your Wedding Day

Hey guys it’s a dreary Monday here in Alabama with hurricane Irma causing all kinds of craziness! I wanted to jump on to the blog about and talk about something that was really important to me. I’ve been struggling to come up with blog post ideas because I’m not naturally a blogger and it’s always really hard for me to come up with good words to say. I can barely come up with captions for our Instagram posts so doing an entire blog post with at least 300 words is a real struggle! However, I’ve been wanting to get better at blogging and I think the only way to do that is to blog as much as I can!

Today, I wanted to talk about the importance of videography on your wedding day. Believe it or not when Dylan and I got married, two years ago, we did not have a videographer. Looking back it makes me so sad that I didn’t have a videographer at my wedding! We still can’t believe we didn’t book one! It honestly was such a rushed time and it wasn’t that big of a deal back then so I didn’t even think about it but now looking back I definitely regret not getting one. Thankfully one of Dylan’s best friends took a video on his iPhone during the ceremony so at least we have that!

Most of you who know me or Dylan, know that my father passed away a year and a half ago. It was sudden and tragic and none of us could have ever imagined the tragedy happening. You know how you think when you see a someone dealing with a tragic situation and you feel so bad for them, but you could never imagine it happening to you. That’s how I always felt before my dad passed away. I have had friends and family have tragic things happen to them and it had broke my heart for them but I honestly never thought it would happen to us! My dad was young, strong and so handsome! He was my best friend, one of Dylan’s best friends and the glue of our family.

Growing up he took us camping, fishing and hunting. He was an avid outdoors man and absolutely loved teaching his four children everything he knew. We were all Daddy’s girls and we were obsessed with everything he did or said. My Dad always wanted a son and he finally got one on his fourth try! Jacob, my brother, was his right hand. They literally did everything together and we have so many cute pictures of them going hunting or fishing together. He was also the #1 Best Pawpaw to his two grandsons, that he also got to teach so much about the outdoors too. My sisters and I, all had him with us to walk us down the aisle and I know that is such a blessing, because I have friends and family who never had their Dad here on earth to physically walk them down the aisle. We were so blessed to have him with us on earth for as long as we did and even though we miss him more than anything, we know he’s in heaven with his Daddy (our pawpaw) fishing and watching over us.

Now you’re probably wondering how does this even relate to videography. Like I mentioned earlier, we didn’t have a videographer at my wedding and so I’ll never have videos of my Dad and I dancing to “I loved her first” (do NOT listen to this song unless you want to boohoo) or walking me down the aisle to my husband. It hurts and stings that I didn’t think to get one, but now when brides ask us if they should get it, I have a definite answer of YES. I would pay whatever to have that video of me and my Dad, and I know everyone would feel that same way!

I’m sorry if this post is depressing or sad, but I honestly wanted to tell my story so that I could let others know how important it is! And I don’t’ mean to say to get videography just because we shoot films, I truly wrote this to help someone to remember to book a videographer (even if it’s not us!!). It’s important and you will be thankful to have that video one day to look back and see you and your loved ones! We truly believe in capturing memories and stories that you and your husband can share for a lifetime! I hope this blog post helps you or someone you know to remember that videography is important.

XOXO – Alex Vires
